It was Pontius Pilate who famously replied to the words of Jesus, asking, “What is truth?”
When Pilate, who had the power to rescind his death sentence, asked Jesus if He was a king, the Lord answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Wanting to deflect rather than deal with these spiritual realities, Pilate asked, “What is truth?” (John 18:37-38)
