  1. I believe that Dr. Michael Heiser advocates something like this. Though there are many good things in his books, this part was bones I had to spit out.

  2. Foreign to the Apostles (certainly to Paul) is the idea that there would be a national restoration for the Jews.

    Before the Ascension, the Apostles ask Christ about ‘restoring the Kingdom to Israel.’ But what does this one reference mean? If we look at the entire witness of the New Testament, which goes to great lengths to demonstrate that the point of the Messiah’s coming is to bring men into a spiritual Kingdom, to save His people from their sins, and not to liberate Israel from Roman rule, it becomes quite clear that the Apostles could not have been referring to what Dr. Brown and others presume. They are simply speaking about the setting up of the Messianic age, which Christ tells them will take place at a future time–what we know to be the Second Coming. As Christians have always believed, the Kingdom of Israel is Christ’s Kingdom when He returns in glory.

    We will be resurrected and we will reign with the Lord our King forever. Thus, God will bring us back to the promised land.

    “Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’”” (Ezekiel, 37:11)

    Amen. Come Lord Jesus.
