Dr. Brown, in one of your recent broadcasts you brought up the issue of old or young Earth creation. Specifically, you said your study of scripture found no clear distinction between the two and thus you encourage people to consider both sides by listening to the very smart Christian scientists on either side of the subject. But you miss an important point here. If you are right that scripture is not clear and can be interpreted either way, then that means that we should generally follow the science in this area. I agree with this. The problem is that young Earth creationists are doing this the other way around. They take scripture to clearly espouse the young Earth version, and thus they are compelled to make the science agree with that view. They aren’t looking for science to show them what is the truth here. They are looking for how to spin science to fit their views. And that makes their science, regardless of how smart they are, suspect.
