  1. Re the pagan roots of our faith.

I appreciate that you do not put out stifling restrictions on your faith. An interesting question today on the line of fire about valentines day. I also take the good aspects of this time of the year. I buy cards/chocolate/dinner ect. However, am I not taking the timing set long ago from Rome? There is a skull on display today on what this timing is set by. I am actually taking my timing and blindly following Rome.

How about if I throw this out and take my timing from the Roots of my faith- The Jewish roots, and throw out the Roman pagan roots?

  2. I don’t understand everyone saying Republicans need to “reach out” for the black vote. They are offering smaller government and more freedom and liberty.
Do most black people need more of a bribe than that?

  3. This is going to be an interesting year. The DOW continues to lose altitue. The middle east is a tender box. Now the supreme court is set up to topple the rest of America. We all need a smaller government and freedom and liberty. Soon, more of us will “get it”/..

Messiah we are ready for your soon coming.

  4. It is nearly impossible to criticise Valentines day. It has so many positive attributes. One religion holds us in contempt and that is Islam. No wonder we are the infidels is that we blindly follow Rome. Just because a day is full of hearts/candy and cards does not mean that it should not be looked at more closely.

  5. Mark, Republicans often don’t run candidates in many places where they don’t expect to win. Candidates for state and national offices often don’t visit areas where they know they will get few votes. What this means is that their message doesn’t get out in those areas. I believe Woody Allen said that 90% of success is just showing up. I don’t know if that percentage is true, but if Republicans aren’t showing up in certain areas, they’re not going to succeed there. That’s what reaching out really means: not a policy position, but being present.
If the Republicans are focused on short term gains, they won’t go to congressional districts that have been drawn specifically to elect minority candidates. If they are interested in long term gains (and forcing the Democrats to spend money in their own backyards) then they will go to those places.
The larger problem is that we as Americans, despite massive and diverse opportunities, mostly dwell in our own communities of thought, and rarely have worthwhile conversations with people we disagree with. This is true across the political spectrum. The solution to this problem, as in most other aspects of life, is not government intervention, God’s intervention. We need awakening. I believe only then will we be humble and courageous enough to face those with whom we strongly disagree in a loving manner. America doesn’t merely need to change its politics. We need to repent.
