Hour 2:
Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: Let us not be deterred, discouraged, or distracted because of a false teacher gaining prominence with a false teaching. Let us instead proclaim the truth all the more boldly; let us not draw back, but instead push forward!

Re: Mr. Camping’s Predictions
Dear Dr. Brown: We know that Satan was well aware that Jesus was the son of God and had a significant role to play in this world. Satan misunderstood that role to be purely physical, and thus he had Jesus killed. Is it possible that something significant happened in the spiritual realm on May 21, 2011 (Jerusalem time) but that Harold Camping, Satan and the rest of the world either misunderstood or were entirely unaware?
Mr. Camping predicted that God would make contact with his people and that it would signal the beginning of the end of the world as we know it. Perhaps those events did indeed take place in the spiritual realm, but Mr. Camping misinterpreted the information he received from his “source” and predicted a physical rapture and a physical end of the world. It need not have been a major event, just one seemingly insignificant act (similar to the birth of a baby boy in a Bethlehem stable).
Given the vast amounts of false doctrine being preached in almost every Christian and non-Christian denomination or religion, I think we should all be a little more kind toward Mr. Camping and his followers.
I don’t think we should be unkind but Mr. Camping has made it look bad for Christians who believe in a literal rapture of the church and the second comping of Jesus. It is plainly stated in the bible no one, not even Jesus knows the day and hour. For him to make such a prediction not just this time but prior to this is blantantly disregard for what scripture says. I don’t think Jesus dealt sympathically with false prophets.
Advice for Harold Camping…
Stop trying to figure things out. Let God be God. He knows what He is doing. Trust in Him. Be at peace, man.
I am listening to Harold Camping right now live from his radio show. Never heard his radio show before.
I tell you one thing….Even though he sounds like a very sweet, kind man, he is one mixed up man. I can not listen to him anymore. Something is not right with him.

Um, I don’t think so.
We must call Mr. Camping to repentance, and graciously welcome him and his followers back if and when that is done. However, giving false doctrine a pass because “everyone is doing it” is most assuredly not the way to go.
Harold now says that that May 21, 2011 was Judgement Day! It is now an (INVISIBLE) Judgement day. Christ Came but came INVISIBLY hummmmm! Sound like we have heard this before? Ahhh hummmm “The Jw’s? NO MORE SALVATION IS BEING POORED OUT. We are now under Judgement! October 21, 2011 remains as the day for the destruction of our world and the WHOLE universe. MY HANDS are done with this man! He is NON-repentant! He is mocking the Church and will continue to do so. I felt bad for him but now, it is worse than before May 21. God bless the followers of all the misled “Campingites”.
At the church I attended last Sunday, a young lady told us that someone predicted the end to be on May 21st, but she had something she wanted to predict, and that was that God isn’t through with us yet, he’s still working on us…etc.
It was a good word.
Harold Camping’s prophecy was a serious error.
I believe he should repent of everything that he has said that comes to his mind that was wrong, and say so whenever he’s teaching something that is connected to what he is teaching in the future, if he should indeed come to repentance, to be restored by the Lord.
I believe God is able to work through Christ to take a man all the way back to wherever the error was. If he wants to teach on the return of Christ, he could say that Jesus said that no man knows the time or hour, and though he once thought that he knew the time and hour, that he was deceived, that he was wrong, and that sadly many people were hurt because of it.
I think it’s up to the grace of God and a man’s willingness to receive it and walk in it.
I don’t know how quickly God can restore a man. I suppose it can take a lot of time. If so, then I suppose he should step down until he finds that restoration of God.
If we are going to preach the grace of God, the good news of Christ, it seems to me that we should preach it where it can make a difference, right where it can have a practical application as at this time with Harold Camping.
It seems to me that we are the ones being tested at this time. How are we doing? Are we passing this test?
Do we believe that a teacher who has gone astray for years, could be used by God for good more than he has in the past been used by evil?
We have the apostle Paul’s life as a testimony to the grace of God don’t we? His life turned around didn’t it? Wasn’t he used by God for a greater good than the evil he once did? I like to think so.
God is in the business of restoration and that is what he does, able to do even more than we ask or think.
If we are going to say to Mr. Camping, “Sir, step down, it’s over.” Let’s also say, “Sir, I believe
God is not through with you yet. I believe he is able to restore you and use you for more good than you were ever used for the sake of evil.
I believe that’s what he wants to do with all of us, for his glory and the sake of his name, by Jesus Christ. I believe the Lord keeps knocking on our heart as long as we live because his love for us is that great….etc.”
