  1. Regarding a coherent, Biblically-based response to Dr. Brown’s position on the regathering of Israel, I think we first have to identify what God intends in terms of ‘regathering,’ not what men intend.

Christ said, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:20-21).

Israel killed the prophets and stoned those sent to her and, despite this disobedience, God sent them the promised Redeemer, His Son Jesus Christ. Christ came, saved His people from their sins, and established His Church. So, this regathering (despite being in judgement) certainly occurred already. The purpose of the establishment of the Old Covenant polity of Israel, “the Land,” was for salvation. It was not to grant the Hebrews temporal power and glory. Just as Moses led the Israelites out of the land of perdition to the promised land not to make them a wealthy nation but to save their bodies and thus their souls, Christ led His people out of perdition and into His Body for the purpose of granting them eternal life.

Dr. Brown’s ideas seem to come from an Old Testament viewpoint, almost as if the Messiah never came. If Christ did not accomplish anything, if Pentecost never happened, for instance, then you could make the case that some sort of ingathering still needed to take place. Furthermore, following in that reasoning, you cannot say that modern Israel is a true regathering, because not ALL the Jews in the world live there. The Jews are still scattered around the world.

  2. Being Jewish is not quite like being Afro-American. The majority of the world’s wealth and institutional power is not in the hands of blacks.
