  1. re: Is 53 “Israel” Referring to A Single Jew (Messiah)
    According to a certain Orthodox Jewish site I frequent, the Talmud [Sanhedrin 44a] relates that since God responded to the sin of a single Jew (Achan) with “they have transgressed My Covenant”, Achan, a single Jew, was called “Israel”.
