Cessationist Call-in Day #2

Dr. Brown Speaks with Steve Camp about What Makes Someone a Heretic, and Dr. Brown Takes Your Calls

  1. Dr. Brown,

I understand cessationalism to be the belief that individuals no longer are imbued with certain gifts of the Holy Spirit such as healing.

    Couple of questions:

    1. Do they still believe that the Holy Spirit comes upon them to say help them grasp deeper meanings and connections found in Scripture?

    2. Do most cessationalists believe that all miracles have ceased? And as for those that believe miracles can still occur, Do they believe that the miracles that they allow for come about as the result of individual and corporate prayer? That is, God still does miracles in response to prayers (such as healing) but that such miracles are not channeled through just particular individuals as a gift of the Spirit?
