  1. Listening to yesterday’s broadcast again. After 20:00, Dr. Phillips suggests that the success of the US economy is built upon God’s principles? Really? God is OK with slavery? God is OK with child labor? God is OK with a middle-class so squeezed by governmental policies that they can hardly exist? God blesses THAT?

At 22:22, Dr. Phillips says that we need to “Jesus-size” our health care system. Is he suggesting that when a child is sick and the parents cannot afford health care insurance, they only need to offer the ER staff a sign of their faith? What about people who do not share Dr. Phillips’ faith? Are they just out of luck when they become ill?

  2. I think of the words of Duncan Campbell who said “The difference in successful evangelism and revival is this: In evangelism, the two, the three, the ten, the twenty, and possibly the hundred make conversions of Jesus Christ, and at the end of the year you are thankful if half of them are standing. But the community remains untouched. But in revival, when God, the Holy Ghost, comes, when the winds of heaven blow, suddenly the community becomes God-conscious! a God-realization takes hold of young, middle-aged and old. So that, as in the case of the Hebrides Revival, 75% of those saved one night were saved before they came near a meeting!”

I believe that revival is possible today, but it will not come unless there is a ready bride waiting for her husband to come. The longing to see and experience the presence of God in the heart, home and church must take precedence above all else. From that awakened soul springs forth the desire to see the lost come to Christ, and bringing to life the meaning of loving your neighbor as one does his own self. Self sacrifice, spirit-born humility, genuine and agonizing prayer filling the house, and the willingness to serve without reservation are marks of a ready people.

I remember asking my dear friend, Bob Phillips, who stood hand in hand with Brother Mike at the Brownsville revival, why Brownsville? Why do you think that it was Brownsville that the Lord chose to visit? Brother Bob said that he didn’t fully know, but what he did know was that John Kilpatrick had been praying for revival for some time, and that there was a people longing and preparing for a visitation from our sovereign Lord whenever that time would come. No one can plan when a revival will ultimately come, but a people can pray, seek the Lord and give Him no rest until He shines forth as the bright morning sun in the midst of His people.

Elsewhere, Duncan Campbell said, “I think again of those people in the Hebrides. How they longed and how they prayed and how they waited and how they cried, ‘Oh God, rend the heavens and come down,’ and all the time God was handling them; all the time God was dealing with them and the process of cleansing went on until the moment came when angels and archangels looking over the battlements of glory cried, ‘God, the vessels are clean, the miracle can happen now.’ I believe that with all my heart; it is the deep conviction of my soul that they are ever gazing over the battlements of glory and waiting for a prepared people. It is one thing to shout it, it is one thing to sing it, it is one thing to talk about revival, but give me a people on their faces, seeking to be rightly related with God, and when that happens, we will soon know the impact of God-realization in our country.”

    Shalom
