[Download MP3]

Hour 2:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: Religion can give you great moral values, it can inspire you to work harder, but it cannot bring you into a living connection with the Living God; that comes only through the cross of Jesus, the Son of God.

  1. Hi Sheila =)

I think hes on vacation with his family. He should be back Live tomorrow (thursday). So today is a reply.

  2. Anyone interested in the subject of Christian apologetics to Mormons should check out “Heart Of The Matter” with Sean McCraney.
Briefly, he was a former LDS (had some status in the church; and, I think, was even a professor at BYU); now he dissects and exposes the false religion, and its founder, for the sake of the people he seems to have been called to: his former Mormon “brethren”.

  3. Thanks for asking about my whereabouts today. I was schedule to broadcast live from Tulsa, OK but my flight was delayed because of weather, causing me to miss my connection. Should be live again tomorrow!

  4. Benjamin,

I went on to watch a half dozen videos about Mormonism. I sure didn’t know the whole story about it! Some pretty convoluted ideas went into the theology of Mormonism. The only way it could have succeeded must be in the fact that most people never read their Bibles!

I wonder, though, what place the actual Bible has in Mormon beliefs? Do they study it alongside of their own book, because it seems to me that the Book of Mormon has thoroughly superseded the Word of God.

I’m trying to find more information about Smith’s “revelation” and where his first followers came from.

  5. Sheila,

To the best of my understanding, Mormons believe the Bible “in so far as it is translated accurately”. And when the King James (or any other Bible version) contradicts what the Book of Mormon says, they believe the Bible was mistranslated and they allow the book of Mormon to supersede the Bible since Joseph Smith said that the Book of Mormon was the most accurate book in the world.

  6. first followers of Smith came from the ‘second great awakening’ effecting Joseph’s parents (the countermissionary ‘awakening’ to the ‘first’ in ‘Calvinism’, the ‘second’ in Arminiansm) his parents split apart by increased ‘second awakening’ denominationalism, which the youthful Joseph began to seek for solution to ‘revivals’ that didn’t last(except to place divisions of peoples set in their ways based upon unreliable ‘translations’ by ‘Reformers’) to ‘reform from within’ that which cannot be ‘reformed’ unto world wide ‘harlot church’, “Nicolaitan”catholicism,”Universalism”, still giving us today, many misleading Reformers bibles’, steeped in Catholicism’deeds’,’creeds’ friendly, from which Mormons ADDED to Sola Scriptura which ‘Reformers’ had purposefully TAKEN AWAY from original ‘texts as found’, especially as Greek of Jesus, foundational Apostles days, when “ISRAEL” WAS STILL ON THIS TINY FOOSTOOL, fully yet still in first fruits ‘threshing’ floor, their own first fruits separations,of “grain”from first fruit “tares”,UNDER LAW of Moses, yet delivered OUT of Egyptian bondage(except as also Mormons today have returned, as modern “tares”, again unto Egyptian bondages).
