  1. Dr. Brown,

Would you consider asking Greg to actually answer the arguments against his position. Could it come with an ultimatum…that he cannot post hit and run comments if he doesn’t. Seems like you held my feet to the fire on more than one occasion. He stated that he would answer any fact or logic against his position on the latest Hyper-grace thread.

    Shalom

  2. Bo, very funny!

I think Rush Limbaugh has a term for that- ” The drive by media.” Greg did you hit and run? Greg is pretty responsive, especially if you hit a nerve. When I questioned him if he actually studied the book A Queer Thing, he certainly brisled at that comment. With some of the arguments that he has used, what choice does he have?

  3. Let’s remember that it’s not about who’s top dog.

Dogs end up outside the gate anyway, don’t they?

If we can shine some light that might brighten a brother’s path, or take away something that might cause one to stumble, or if we just want to praise the Lord, those are good things to do.

  4. Re today’s show.

I will admit that I have never liked Bennie Hinn at all. I would never send him any support. I even prayed against him very recently for God’s judgement on him for his heresy. Today’s program has given me pause, this even could be an answer to the letter I wrote against him last month. One ministry that I have the most respect for and know it is being used of God is Line of Fire. This has shaken me a little, but I am understanding of who, what, and why. I would expect Michael Brown to go on Pier’s Morgan’s program- should I not expect him to go on Hinn’s program? I trust the prayer that goes into it- and I will asks God’s glorifying on this also? This was a shock for me, but one that I will process correctly.

  5. I would definitely
want the audience of Binny Hinn watching and ordering books from Michael Brown. I am glad that Hinn does have a connection to someone like Brown where the truth is available. Mabey Hinn is finding his way, I know he has taken an interest in Israel lately. When I say him on his program in Israel I was mad that he was jumping into the arena where I find him to be a pick pocket to the television audience. We must allow God to work with him, If it is through Brown well.

  6. Luke 7:36
Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman

36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat.[h] 37 When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. 38 Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.

39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”

40 Then Jesus answered his thoughts. “Simon,” he said to the Pharisee, “I have something to say to you.”

    “Go ahead, Teacher,” Simon replied.

41 Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver[i] to one and 50 pieces to the other. 42 But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”

43 Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”

“That’s right,” Jesus said. 44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.

47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?”

50 And Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.

  7. “please have Justin Peters back on for a full two hours in the near future!”

That would be a good debate on cessationism! Hopefully Justin Peters will see the light 🙂

  8. Dr Brown, as a Pentecostal pastor I have to say I am very disappointed with this, coming at a time when the post-Strange Fire debate had been going so well for our side. I feel like we have just had our collective Continuationist head handed to John MacArthur on a platter. Every defender of the charismata is now going to have this thrown at them as evidence of our lack of discernment.

Judging by this broadcast it appears that you were not fully up-to-speed on Benny Hinn before now & are asking for info. I say it with love, brother but don’t you think it is wiser to do your research into a man’s ministry before sharing a platform with him rather than after?
Surely the damage is done by that point.

My prayer is that you will pray over all of this and come to see that you made an error of judgement.

  9. Mr. Brown,
Your past broadcast conversation with Justin Peters left me with conflicting felling’s based on your comments. If I heard you correctly, you said you don’t know about the problems with Benny Hinn which were addressed by Justin.

I cant think of a more polarizing Charismatic teacher than Benny Hinn. He is one of the fall to guys which those who are against Prosperity/ Charismatic teaching go to in order to make their case against the Charismatic movement.

I honestly fine it unbelievable that in all your conversations with non-Charismatics over the controversy, That his name does not often come up as a case study on the false teachers in the Charismatic church.

And then, when you are invited to appear on his show, why wouldn’t you first investigate all the chatter about how false a teacher he is.

    That just doesn’t add up.

    Regards,
    Eric

  10. Would not any of us want Binny Hinn to have a full turn around? We are no more than four years from the return of the Messiah- It is hard for most of us to accept Binny, however there is not going to be a down fall of Michael Brown. I am looking at this as a positive step.

  11. Eric,

I said I heard many charges about Benny Hinn over the years but hadn’t investigated them; I also had folks assuring me of his devotion to the Lord and his orthodoxy. I decided to accept the invitation to be on his show, especially since he expressed the desire to get to know me personally. So, I began my interaction with him this week face to face with questions but with a clean slate.

  12. Dr. Brown,

I have been reading your books for many years and also listening to you speak long before LineofFire came to be. I believe you to be an upright guy. You have a rare combination of scholarship and charismatic teaching. When I compare your ministry to that of Benny Hinn it is like comparing night and day.

You started your program by playing clips of Benny proclaiming the gospel. This put me in mind of a talk Ravi Zacharias had given when he was discussing his days at seminary. He spoke of a fellow student who didn’t believe anything he was being taught. When Ravi asked him why he was there, he said There is a lot of money to be made in the god business. I believe it was Dr. Geisler who pointed out a Bible professor who taught OT theology, but didn’t believe a word of it. The point is that just because you speak the talk or can teach theology, doesn’t mean you believe it. It may be profitable in the most carnal way.

I watched the debate you had with Bart Ehrman and he implied that you were in the business for profit. He made some comment about the suit you had on. If memory serves, you replied that the suit was 10 years old and you had $1500.00 in the bank. If we contrast this to Benny Hinn, we see he drives a Mercedes and lives in a 10 million dollar home as documented on Dateline (http://craigbrownsreformedtheology.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/benny-hinn-exposed-by-nbc-dateline/, http://m.youtube.com/watch?safesearch=1&v=NSxqFE_hmcE&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DNSxqFE_hmcE%26safesearch%3D1). Now while a teacher of the Word has a right to make a living, does this not seem to be excessive? When you travel do you have a private lear jet? Do you stay in hotels well in excess of $1000.00 per night? I compare this to the ministry of K.P. Yohannan who makes a modest salary as the head of Gospel for Asia, where 100% of donations reach their targets of educating and feeding the poor and spreading the Gospel. K.P. Yohanan makes a point in one of his books over the angst he has in keeping money for himself that might be used to save a soul. Apparently Benny doesn’t feel the same angst.

Norman Geisler has said, that a miracle is and act of God, to verify a claim of God, to the people of God spoken by a prophet of God. Now if we consider Benny Hinn’s track record in the area of miracles, what should this tell us? After all, unlike most teachers of the Word, Benny claims to perform miracles. Should they not be used then to measure the veracity of his prophesies and messages? As for Benny’s miracles, when challenged to provide documentation, he came up short, as in the number zero. My own Pastor says that if Benny has the ability to do miracles, why doesn’t he drop by the Children’s hospital and empty it out? Why do miracles only “happen” in large auditoriums filled with ticket purchasing people? And if we accept Dr. Geisler’s definition of a miracle, then when certain truths of God, such as the saving grace of Jesus are paired with false miracle claims, does this not put the truth at risk? The logic:

    1. A miracle verifies a truth claim of God.
    2. Benny Hinn claims the truth Jesus is the way (among other false claims)
    3. But since Hinn’s miracles are false then his teachings must be false, including his claim that Jesus it the only way.

Truth mixed with false claims can be destructive!

As for Benny’s theology, it seems confused. I have personally heard him say that as we get closer to God, God moves further away? Huh? Really? Just because that is a total contradiction to Scripture, why should we let that bother us?

Now I understand the upside of your going on the show. TBN has a huge audience. Having the opportunity to reach 20 million people with truth seems like a good thing. And the potential financial boost to your ministry would allow you to do more. But is this not a case of the ends justifying the means?

My pastor was once offered a slot on TBN. He is a quite gifted teacher, well grounded in the Word. Problem: By appearing on TBN sandwiched in between the crazies, does this not give credence to false teachers. A mature Christian may be able to discern truth from error and separate the wheat from the chaff, but what about the new believer. And is not the best way to promote error to mix it with truth? In the end he declined the offer.

I do not understand the support garnered by Benny by one of your former grads. Does this grad repudiate the Dateline investigation about Benny’s lavish lifestyle and undocumented healings? Or does your grad think teachers of the Word should live in 10 million dollar mansions? Now while many healings occur in third world countries where it is difficult to document them, Benny largely plays in the United States, where documentation should be a straight forward thing. When he claims a tumor disappears, finding before and after medical records and imaging studies should be rather trivial. Certainly the one cured would want the word of such healing power to be spread to others and would be willing for such medical records to be shared! But yet we never see such things! Of the thousands of people that have been “healed” where is the documentation?

It seems to me as a scholar, you should have done some more homework. You should have asked these questions of your former student. You should have asked your student how he explains these discrepancies. Or in your zeal to reach such a large audience to speak to, was there a blind spot such that you decided to just look the other way for the sake of your own goals?

Perhaps you should have asked your caller Justin for a copy of his masters thesis, which you could evaluate for yourself, checking his documentation. Or do a search on youtube for dateline and Benny’s miracles and see how he carefully screens out the truly disabled.

Dr. Brown, I hope you don’t take this as personal attack. I have great respect for you and have supported your ministry and probably read most of your scholarly work.

  13. S. Johnson,

I truly appreciate your post and don’t take it as an attack at all. I have also declined prior TV invitations because of the venue. In this case, for the reasons stated on the broadcast, I felt it was right to accept the invitation. Let’s give things time, see the fruit of the broadcasts, and see where my relationship with Pastor Hinn goes.

    Fair enough?

  14. If we want someone to follow us we might come close and then move away a bit. I think it would be wonderful if whole hospitals gathered together in Jesus’ name, and if ministers often visited there.

  15. “Pastor” Hinn. Dr. Brown – you couldn’t have done any better vindicating the Strange Fire guys. Your “explanations” are insufficient.

  16. Brother Mike,

I listened to your recent program and your announcement of appearing on Benny Hinn’s broadcast. I did find it a bit paradoxical that you would accept an invitation to one of the major players of the charismatic confusion right on the back of writing your book, Authentic Fire. One of the charges leveled against you from Strange Fire advocates has been your lack of discernment and clear judgment in associating with people who are not theologically sound and/or have misrepresented the genuine work of the Holy Spirit.

Benny Hinn does indeed say some sound things; however, he is widely known for his many outlandish statements as well. One caller noted Hinn’s statement regarding Adam being able to cover the earth with great strides, something he said over 10 years ago. Actually, he said a number of odd things and each of them were from Talmudic references, of which you keenly noted in your response. He had often introduced statements in that manner because it gave the appearance of deep insight into the Word.

You also noted that you have friends close to Benny Hinn, as well as the last caller stating the same, all validating that he was a man of great character. While this is of great importance, the mass of people who bring him into question do so in regards to his public ministry as well.

A great emphasis has shined on his healing “crusades” which does not require one to have inside information in order to make a clear judgment. To watch him hold up his hand and ask people if they want the anointing, bait them three-times over with the gesture of his hand, and then wave it towards the crowd only to watch scores of people fall backwards is a total mockery of the ministry and work of the Holy Spirit. This has been a demonstration that perceived him possessing the power of the Holy Spirit at his waving disposal, thus serving no purpose at all while putting the focus totally upon him . Interestingly enough, the ushers in the walk ways were never effected and just watched everyone beside them fall backwards. The power of G-d, or manipulation at its best?

I certainly am not here to declare you being right or wrong in associating with Benny Hinn, as I understand that you wanted to speak to the 20 million person audience, while ultimately this being between you and G-d. However, I do see this as adding fuel to the Fire debate (no pun intended) with those on the fence truly seeking to find truth, clarity and balance, as well as opponents validating their argumentation regarding your associations.

I pray that the Lord will bring forth fruit with this relationship to His glory alone, and may His grace and strength be added to your life.

    Shalom

  17. Brother Mike,

One other note. Benny has a brother, Sammy, whose ministry is also in Florida. I’ve shared a platform with him at a major conference before, and I must say, he is indeed a preacher of holiness. I mentioned this because you stated that if some of the allegations about Benny are true, you may have the opportunity to address them with him. I just want to say that he already does have solid men around him that have spoken into his life regarding some of his abuses. The matter does come down to who we really choose to associate with, thus indicating a reflection of our own judgment – whether good or bad.

My question to you is, if you find many of the allegations regarding his fundraising methods and ministry actions to be true, will you break fellowship with him – sending a clear message that you do not endorse his ministry or the abuses in charismatic circles – or will you continue to fellowship with him because of his 20 million plus platform?

  18. Just remember it was Benny Hinn that once said “The only way Jesus could stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him.” Hinn went on to say that Jesus became one with the nature of Satan so that those who partake of the nature of Satan can partake of the nature of God.” He also said that Jesus was born again in hell. This is heresy on many levels. first it denies the blood atonement with is a central doctrine of our faith. Second if Jesus ceased to be God on the cross and took on the nature of Satan and had to be born again this denies the deity of Jesus. Therefor it puts Benny Hinn outside the body of Christ.

  19. It’s interesting Dr Brown on the show you play Benny Hinn’s exhortations to turn to Jesus but not so much play what he is has said in terms of the errors he has made. Benny Hinn may teach something like Jesus is the only way or you need him to be saved, but you don’t take into consideration his Word Faith teaching which is completely aberrant.

Repentance is not the only criteria of a true teacher. Would you accept the profession of faith from a Mormon or a Jehovah’s Witness just because they teach repentance? I sincerely doubt you would.

  20. I suppose I could hear something about Jesus having become Satan, if we are calling man Satan, and I suppose I could think of the Lord’s body going into the grave, as similar as going into the womb, and that would mean that when he arose, he was born from the dead, something new.

As far as Adam being able to stride the earth, I believe mankind was able to compass the earth. I also think of the possibility that he could be in another place in spirit.

I’m not always sure how to hear some things that people say. Sometimes we tend to be too quick to hear people in a differnt way than they meant.

If we want to find out if someone is real or not, I suppose we could play a tape of what they had said in the past, ask them if it was them, if they remember it, if they remember what they meant by what they said, if they still teach that today, etc.

That might be a good thing to do, if a man knows it’s coming and would be willing and could be prepared for it.

That could also serve as an example that God still saves sinners, and that in this world, we all make mistakes.

I trust that those that go on great ventures, might make great mistakes.

  21. In regards to my above post, I’m thinking Benny Hinn wouldn’t need any preparation, though it might be a good thing to let a man know one’s intentions.

  22. The 67 Revival…

The one thing that I have seen on TBN in the last several years is the Jewish faith movement influencing the Christian programing on TBN. Instead of the Blabb it and grabb it group making a mockery of true faith, the 67 revival (the true faith) has influenced every single opulent, mockery that Hinn was selling. The Jewish roots have taken over a significant percentage of the programming. This has caught the attention of the Couches, and the plant the seed and reap your blessings group. Let this revival with Brown go on and take over TBN. Let truth of the Messiah and true faith take over the air. Let God work here! Sell your homes you profit taking pastors. Stop stealing in God’s name! This is a time for truth- The class of 67 come and finish the work! Revival will over turn all untruth, all inauthentic fire.

  23. Dr. Brown:
I share your joy in what Yeshua, the Meshiah, has done in your life that happy day when he saved you.
    I have prayed for you.
Please be encouraged with the hope of our (the church) ressurection. Can you imagine the reality? Praise God!

  24. Sorry Mike after just watching u on Sid Roth and now hearing your going on Benny Hinn the only thing I can think of is
Creflo Dollar dollar bill ya’ll …..$$$$$$$$
Hinn & Roth are both $3 bills with their sensationalistic money grubbing & phony healing tactics.
And how can u go on Roths show to talk about Law and what u call Hyper Grace when he is in fact a 2 bit sensationalistic sheister.
What a contradiction to your whole ministry.
The very second after his interview with u he says someone whos watching hand is being healed what a crock of BS ! !
Ive seen these tactics for decades and watched dozens of his shows and that guy is ” making mechandise ” of foolish believers. He Oral & Richard Roberts and many others like them play this sickening game and God is going to hold all these sheisters accountable.
Mike I love you dearly and have anonymously supported you @ times and appreciated many of your insights but I am deeply deeply disappointed in you now ! ! !
Like John the Baptist said REPENTTTTT ! ! ! !

  25. Caucazhin, Sid Roth can not be on your list.
Now we are getting into if your in this group your wrong, and if your not with this one your missing it. Dangerous territory.. You can have your opinion, But Sid Roth you would not be reading correctly. Sid Roth is part of the revival that started in 1967, he found Messiah in the 70’s- Why are you running around stating for him to repent? All of us are guilty of this, I feel strongly against Hinn- But love Sid Roth and offended by your read. Let’s get the board’s out of our eyes.

  26. Just wondering when you’re going to have a construction conversation with me since I’ve pointed out some HUGE heresies that Mike Bickle is teaching (and you promote Mike Bickle as being a godly man). Did I miss something? Have you responded to anything I’ve written on this matter? If not, you’re just giving lip service in this blog. Again.

  27. Kathryn call 866 34 TRUTH – If you have a good question I would like to hear it. There is a lot of blogging opportunities and many people on here would respond to you. Bo, how do you respond to Kathryn. If you need an answer call in the number is above.

  28. jon,

I do not know anything about Mike Bickle or Kathryn East. I am generally only responding to Biblical truth and I am not too interested in discussing people.

    Shalom

  29. JON ….Sid Roth is a lying decieving used car salesman dirt bag. He occaisonally has an interesting guest Like Mike, Jonathan Cahn and other prophetic teachers but the rest of his stuff is complete bunk.
Take your head out of the sand JON before its to late ! ! !

  30. I am rejoicing and praising God Caucazin that you are not a judge in any way of the people you sulley. Your’s is just your opinion and not one jot more!

  31. Dr. Brown,

You are losing credibility by continuing to refuse to repent on the fact that you were and are not aware of Benny Hinn’s heresies. He is a false prophet and deceiver of the worst kind and you continue to give him a pass and after all the comments you are getting on this blog. The majority of those on tv are charlatans and fakes…Hinn’s…Murdock…Popoff..etc. Repent and call them out or lose complete credibility.

  32. JON look @ the guys fruit ….man ! ! !
Just watch his show for a few weeks and look @ all the sensationalistic nonsense he has on there all the time ! ! !

    People traveling to heaven
    People traveling to hell
People talking to and constantly seeing angels
A holyghost weight loss plan of 40lbs in 6 weeks

Healing people right & left like nothing right over the television without knowing who they are

Its all nonsense man ask him and or Benny Hinn without their entourages to take a walk with live TV news cameras to Cedar Sinai medical center and see if they can start emptying the rooms.

    WON’T HAPPEN THEY CAN’T ! ! ! ! ! !

  33. RE Caucazhin, Thank you! Thank you for that you tube. I watched it and really enjoyed that. I have more respect for Sid Roth, more love for him than ever. Thank you,

    that must have been 1974?

  34. JORGE ( UNFORTUNATELY ) is tellin it like it is.
These sheister ministries have had their day its been 40 years since TBN started and theres a few decent teachers on there but guess what
” judgement starts in the house of God ”
Gods not going to stand for this one foot in the world one foot in the Lords Temple nonsense anymore.
These lust filled, pride filled coveteous charlatans days are numbered whether theyre Messianic Jews or Gentile Christians.
    ( God is no respector of persons ! ! ! )
God in general is abandoning the western world & churches and is giving them over to their sin in just as they have abondoned Him for the earthly delights theyve saturated themselves in.
Only a remnant will be left because the corruption of american churches is so over the top its sickening ……………
Weve become the modern Sodom, the mystery whore of Babylon hidden in plain sight…
Sodom & GAmerica the Pitiful its US ! ! !

    ISAIAH 1:9
Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

    Enough said here.

I am appalled by the loose comments so blatantly directed at those within ministry past and present! I am a Messianic Jew and for a long time have been reluctant to join in these so-called blogs. Let me in all humility warn those who so wantonly accuse the brethren. I too hate the merchandizers of the Messiah Yeshua’s gospel. but I can assure you He will handle it!! Keep your mouth gate in check especially when it comes to the ministers yes some have fallen and maybe even strayed money is a powerful tool and must be respected or we all can fall pray to its allure! Pray for the brethren and allow the Ruach HaKodesh / holy Spirit to guide them back. We must present ourselves as a community of love and forgiveness in order for them to return! Just as the prodigal son knew in his heart that his fathers house was a place of forgiveness and mercy, which beckoned him to return. Let God be God as even with the so-called soothsayers it is the gospel of the, Messiah Yeshua that saves not Humankind messenger!!!!!!!!!!
