  1. Hearing that 12 yr old have the confidence to call in and state her stance was touching. In our politically correct society, its rare that a child takes the initiative to call a radio show (let alone listen to a religious program and call in) and state a none MTV, media approved message

    God bless

  2. I have a survey question for Dr. Brown:

In a democracy, who should decide which marraiges are legal?

    a) Only one religion
    b) Only one sect of that religion
    c) Only one narrow reading of scripture
    d) The people in that democracy

I suspect, your answer will be

    e) God.

But, to chose e), you have to presume a) b) and c)

  3. Ty,

What makes you think our culture is “politically correct?” When a guy like Rush Limbaugh gets $400,000,000 contracts, we can’t be that politically correct.

In my observation, people complain about “political correctness” because they don’t want to be held accountable for their words.

  4. Greg,

When a government enforces some twisted notion of what marriage is it steps all over the rights of Christians. Government has no right to declare that homosexual relationships are “good”. The scripture is 100% clear that homosexual relationships are evil. The Bible is clear that God rejects those who disagree on His teaching about sexuality.

  5. Greg mate i think you hit the nail right on the head. The question is: should we fight for a theocratic nation? should it be that way? If so then let’s go the whole nine yards: punishments for adulterers, rebellious kids, homosexuality, fornication and divorce! death penalty for them too. all of which have biblical mandates. the nation will be clean pretty quick.

but presuming we want godless nation – one where religion is divorced from policy, well then, anything goes. ANYTHING.

  6. i’ve also had a cursory perusal of the new mexico court decision. maybe you guys aren’t familiar with how the legal system operates, but courts can’t decide on an issue willy-nilly. they are constrained by: (i) the legislature and (ii) by precendents from appellate courts. the court made a correct legal decision on at least one of the points (the contravention of the new mexcio anti-discrim legislation: absolutely. they had virtually no choice in the matter. as for the free speech point- i disagree with the courts. i’m yet to delve into how the court grapples with the religious freedoms act vs. anti-discrim act to decide in favour of the latter. that would be intersting. point being: the court was well within its rights to make its judgment.

  7. Greg

you are right.. our country is not 100% politcally correct. But you must admit that we are in some what politcally correct society… “I have had ppl stumble on to whether or not refer to be a Black or African American “. If I say “Oriental”…I get viewed like a racist. As u can see soemtimes the politcally correctnes goes to far.

The society at least attempts..in the broad scheme of public perception to come across as non-offenses on a basic level. Majority of ppl can not go around calling ppl “Fat, lazy, retarded, N-word” because they are offensive.

Ppl still feel these ways… yes… but over all u have to be politcally correct.

Rush Limbaugh…. yes theit are a few extreme stances still in the spectrum.. and their always will be. But lets be honest… Rush could not have a TV show in prime time and not get flak for things he says.

  8. Ben

    I would like to disagree

“but courts can’t decide on an issue willy-nilly. they are constrained by: (i) the legislature and (ii) by precendents from appellate courts.”

there is no checks an balance for the Supreme courts. Once they rule… they rule. Only way around it is, for Congress to draw up a new law. The reason why the ratio between Conservative and liberals is so key… is because they can view the law through what every lens they see fit, to rule.

Ex1. Why do you think state laws differ? Different perceptions of precendent. One judge may view one case as relevant while another does not.

Ex2. The Appeals court. The appeals judge may feel that the past judge did view this wrong or that wrong… Each has teh ability to apply their own logic…and yes some judges are willy-nilly

Ive seen Attorneys smile with glee at the decision of who a judge was on a case. And their glee was onyl due to the bias of the judge, or the lack of assertiveness or over assertiveness for a judge.

  9. Ben & Greg,

Good points on the role of a democracy. This is the slippery slope…is it really the will of the people with separation between church and state… or not.

But if it is that way…. Laws like Prop * in CA should stand.

It seems like we want a democracy.. but when it doesnt go a certain way… “the gov steps in a over turns it” and then we say “religion should determine the laws…. the problem with this is… the ppl voted… it wasnt a props brought forth by religion.

  10. Ben,

Our nation already is and has always been a theocratic nation…it just serves a false deity. His picture is on the back of a one dollar bill. His symbolism is all over Washington DC.

It would serve the public interest for our nation to have righteous laws, but the church does not really want them, for the most part. Our government does not really want what is in the public interest either…it has other lovers/masters that it is more interested in pleasing.

Pretty much anything already goes in church…just choose the one that accepts your sinful lifestyle. The church has been happy to be subsidized by the government through 501c3 partnership with it. The church has been trying to serve two masters for a long time and is reaping what it has sown.

The woman of Revelation is still riding on the beast. The question is…is she finding it a difficult mount to steer? Is the beast finding it easier to dump its rider?

    James 4
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

    John 18
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world…

    Revelation 18
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

    1 Corinthians 5
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

It is kind of late to be thinking that the woman will dismount the beast, but we can come out of her and be spared a lot of judgment. The church had every opportunity to remove the leaven from its midst, but now the whole lump is leavened with sin and false doctrine. How can it ever be effective in un-leavening the nation.

It is time for a new lump that will not allow any leaven in the assembly. That assembly can still have an effect on society…but the government has sold itself into slavery and has no hope of being set free by its cruel masters.

The only reform that can happen is one heart at time…starting with our own.

    Jeremiah 5
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

It is just about “the end thereof.” What are we going to do?

As goes the man, so goes the family. As goes the family, so goes the assembly. As goes the assembly, so goes the community. As goes the community, so goes the culture. As goes the culture, so goes the nation.

It is past time to step up and take responsibility in the first things…then we might effect the secondary things. First things first, though.

    Shalom

  11. Interesting show indeed. The topic of, or the question of, “if two siblings love each other, a brother and sister, at the gay pride parade, survey says, drum roll please, yes! Brothers and sisters who are in love should be allowed to legally get married, survey says. Because they are madly in love, right?

Leviticus 20:17, came strait to mind from my years learning in Jerusalem. The word used to describe the sexual relationship between brother and sister is chesed, חסד, which in Greek has been sometimes interchanged with agape love, αγαπε,

…so even way back then in the Moses days, this question, as all other questions have been dealt with under Ecclesiastes’ sun. Answer: God says no. Even if you are madly in love, חסד, nope, brothers and sisters just don’t get legally married to each other, apparently this generation thinks God is the weird One,

And this generation thinks their sane by saying, “legally marry your animal, after-all you are so in love, חסד.

In the original Hebrew, written Moses the prophet himself,

ואיש אשר־יקח את־אחתו בת־אביו או בת־אמו וראה את־ערותה והיא־תראה את־ערותו חסד הוא ונכרתו לעיני בני עמם ערות אחתו גלה עונו ישא

  12. Dan1el,

Good article, but I think that we are so far down the road to becoming a democracy instead of a republic that there is not much hope of restoring a true constitutional government to this land. We may soon see the dictatorship that democracies end up producing.

    Shalom

  13. Messiah said that people that divorce and remarry are adulterers. Our government says that they are lawfully married. Why will the government not go further and say that marriage is also between two men or two women? Why will it not, eventually, sanction brother and sister or mother and son or master and pet marriages…if it is not brought to destruction before this can happen? Enter Sodom and Gomorrah…

The church has given in to the false idea that divorced people can have a legitimate marriage. Why should we expect it to not go down the same road that society is traveling, just a few years behind, since they have done so in the remarriage fallacy.

Herodias had divorced Phillip. Herod had “married” her.

    Mark 6
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.
18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

And do you think that the modern Herods and Herodiases will not seek to kill those that call their sin what it is? The hate is already there. Hate crimes are really the government trying to silence the John the Baptists of our generation. It is really the government and those that insist upon having their sin sanctioned that hate those that preach righteousness…not vice’ versa.

    Shalom
