  1. Dr Brown this was just announced in one of Sweden’s biggest news paper:

A high school in Stockholm, Sweden “Södra Latin” becomes the first school in Sweden to establish an gender-neutral locker room as a third alternative for those students that does not feel comfortable with the gender distinction and want to identify themselves as “hen” (in Swedish a word that signifies a person and not a sex). The word “hen” have not yet gotten the official recognition as a proper swedish word from the government but feminists and gay advocates uses it as if the was part of the swedish language.

Dr Brown! We are living in a crisis-hour. In sweden we lost our fight for marriage as an institution between a man and a woman as early as 2009. The biggest Church in Sweden, the Chruch of Sweden are conducting marriages between same-sex couples since 2009.

The question has now reached some parts of the old evangelical churches in which some liberal pastors (in pentecostal and baptist circles) are beginning to question the old godly values which has governed this churches in centuries. May God have mercy on the Western World.

    Sincerely Magnus

  2. Dr. Brown,

Can the church get just laws passed if it fails to effect the population by both true conversion and righteous education?

The whole educational system is basically against true morality and the entertainment system preaches a message that is in keeping with the immorality of the educational system. It preaches louder and more convincingly than the church…probably because it believes what it preaches more so than the church.

When self is our master and judge and truth is only what one personally believes, what hope of passing just laws is there? If we do not win the battle in entertainment and media and are as invested in the educational system as the post modern pagan, how can there even be a foundation to begin to build a just law? True righteousness, and real justice will never make sense to our brainwashed society.

When people vote for the candidate that promises them the most benefits, whether or not they can deliver what they promise, rather than for what is best for all, there is no hope of just law being enacted or maintained. When what is best for all looks like hardship, bondage and old fashioned, prudish morality, those that have been pumped full of post modern paganism via the press, the professor, the playwright and quite often the pastor, will not even consider just law to be just.

The spirit of Elijah that reconnects the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers via home education and home worship is the only hope. Without such we are relegated to a cursed world.

The children of churchianity and even those of true Biblical faith are leaving the faith of the fathers by the scores because they have been handed over to wolves in sheep’s clothing and sheep in wolves’ clothing in the form of education, entertainment, and evangelism. Let the true believer take up his duty to his family or the battle is lost already.

    Shalom

  3. Dr. Brown is usually a clear thinker but I feel like he was a bit sloppy today.

There is no inherent virtue in taking a moral stand — there is only virtue in taking a _good_ moral stand.

Christians have often taken moral stands for the wrong reasons. In the not-so-distant past, many took a moral stand against mixed-race marriages, fully believing they were backed by the bible and standing up for the traditional definition of marriage. There was no virtue in that.

Similarly, I don’t believe there is virtue in taking a moral stand against equality for our fellow gay Americans. I think that supporting equality for gays is the higher moral stand.

And, obviously, most people here disagree!

But, can we agree that taking a moral stand is not inherently virtuous?

  4. Hey Dr. Brown,

For whatever my opinion is worth, I think Christians should certainly vote their conscience. The problem is that American Christianity has become a political commodity and a brand name.

I think the villainizing tone the discourse (often) takes illustrates that the church is working from a place of weakness and lacks the confidence to actually engage the culture on the level that Jesus did.

Maybe no one believes they can anymore?

In reality, I think previous posters are partly right–we are at a critical time. But if the church has nothing to add but laws that will be overturned in a generation, what’s the point?
