WE should enourage PEOPLE LIKE CHRIS DOYLE, a ‘professional’ WHOM POSSIBLY THE CHURCH needs for replacements for people like ROB BELL’s leaving the Church ! Great article on the Charisma website, Dr Brown. Rob Bell thinks he is oh so brave’n’cuttin’ edge, but to swim WITH the stream does not take much strength. When a UK leader “bravely” supported sinful lifestyles, I realised that it isn’t brave to say what the world WANTS to hear.
PS Check everything against the Bible,everyone. One of the first things a false preacher must do is trash the Bible to eradicate the plumb line of Scripture — then we won’t use it to measure his statements.

I was recently reading Tozer’s commentary on the state of the church so many years ago. While reading this I thought of Piers Morgan a self-professed Catholic and after reading your article it seems Tozer’s statements apply equally to Bell. He quotes John 15:18-19:
If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
His point is that if most of the world agrees with your views then chances are you are of the world and not of the church. As Tozer puts it:
“no real union between the world and the Church is possible. When the Church joins up with the world it is the true Church no longer but only a pitiful hybrid thing, an object of smiling contempt to the world and and abomination to the Lord …..The Apostle does not genuflect to the little god Tolerance (the worship of which has beome in America a kind of secondary surface religion); he is bluntly intolerant.”
It seems an amazing thing that men who call themselves Christians wonder not at how much both the secular world and those who live in the shadows of Christianity love them when Jesus Himself said that the world would hate those who truly follow Him.
Tozer’s words about tolerance were written in 1950! One can only imagine what he would write today.
