Dr. Brown Responds to the Elementary School Massacre in Connecticut

[Download MP3]

Dr. Brown planned to respond to these questions: Is Christmas filled with pagan customs? Should a Christian enjoy movies like “The Hobbit,” featuring “good wizards”? Is it possible that a just God could condemn people to an eternal hell? However, he changed his focus to respond to the slaughter of children and adults in Connecticut. Listen live here 2-4 pm EST, and call into the show at (866) 348 7884 with your questions and comments.

Hour 1:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: We serve a God who brings light out of darkness and who brings good out of evil. Let us first remember though how much evil there is in the human race and how desperately we need a savior, and let us cry out to our God for awakening in our land.

Hour 2:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: This tragedy is not the end of the story; let us commit to pray for the families involved. That something so precious has been taken from them that could never be repaid in this world, that God somehow will bring them something even more.

  1. Just to clarify, I posted that before I knew about the massacre.

I want to say that my heart goes out to all of the victims of this tragedy, this absolute atrocity. I pray that God comforts all of the family members and friends of anyone affiliated with this event. My heart breaks for them all and it stirs up my heart all the more to pray for God’s kingdom to come and His message to be spread to every single person in the world.

  2. I do think it is important to recognize that the ‘same tendencies toward wickedness exist in every one of us,’ as Dr. Brown mentioned.

I know that were it not for the transformative salvation of God, who knows what evil I would have made room for in my own life by this point. While I can’t personally imagine committing any act so heinous as the mass murder of children – nonetheless, without that LIGHT to light all of our paths, we all grope about in the darkness, where stumbling onto a crooked path is inevitable. While some wrong paths may not result in evil on the magnitude of some of these especially disturbingly evil acts we’ve seen on the world’s stage, the Enemy is very subtle, and often draws people in slowly and gradually until the magnitude of his infiltration has increased.

Jesus [Yeshua] said, “I am the Light of the World.” John 8:12, “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” We need God’s Light so, so much! I know from my own life that when the Blood of the Lamb of God washes us clean, our nature is changed, and our desire becomes ‘more of Him, more of Him’. I know with my whole heart that Salvation is possible today. Surrendering our heart and soul to God is the solution.

Just as the brass serpent was lifted up for the healing of the assembly there in the desert in ages past, we believers need to keep lifting up the solution, the true gate to the Father, Yeshua, the Son, and keep proclaiming to all that forgiveness, mercy, and cleansing are available — the one who crushed the serpent’s head is the way to the Father, to purity and light…To those in darkness, we say, “Be healed. Repent from evil, turn truly to Him, give up the wretchedness and uncleanness that drags you down to the depths, be washed, be healed, live in the light…there is no evil that His miraculous presence can not overcome.”

Let’s pray together that more and more people will turn to Him, focus on Him, where there is Healing, and that we can be used more effectively to bring His Light to this sin-shattered world.

  3. thank you for the encouraging words you share. Regardless of what the topic might be, the words you share are truly encouraging and genuine.

  4. Don’t we all wish the young killer would have started his day out by finding the verse about honoring thy father and mother that it may be well with thee…length of days and long life…?

I hope for the day when I hear about a young man who visits a kindergarten class by appointment, is buzzed in by the staff, and is introduced by the teacher as one who graduated high school and would like to encouage the younger students to do good and be kind to one another, and that although growing up isn’t always easy, it’s always good when good people help each other along the way, and that one thing he’s learned through his years in school is the value of students helping one another and working together caring for one another, etc.

I’m sure there are things that someone like that could tell the younger ones if they were old enough to receive it all.

    Malachi 4 is good reading.

  5. Shalom Dr Brown:

People believe they have the right to own Guns. That is ok, however I believe that the Bullets need to be changed to stun and not to Kill. Also the Bullets need to controlled by the State. Control the Bullets not the right own the Guns.
    I don’t own a gun.

    Shalom

  6. Barbara,

The founding fathers would not agree with you at all. The government is not to rule the people, it is to serve the people. The reason for the revolution was to escape a government that controlled and oppressed the people.

Government is supposed to punish criminals by our permission, not make us criminals by passing restrictive laws. We have succumbed to tyranny such that we think that we must seek the government’s permission to do things. Government is supposed to get its authority from us.

The only thing gun laws do, or bullet law would do, is disarm the law abiding citizen while the black market armed the criminals. The right to keep and bear arms is for the purpose of keeping the government from oppressing the people. Allowing restrictive gun laws only arms the government and the criminals against the people.

Please rethink your position. And remember that Nazi Germany, very early in its systematic plot, disarmed the people. What makes you think that any government will not follow in Hitler’s footsteps if it gets the chance?

A better solution is to train and arm the teachers. A well placed bullet would stop any massacre from continuing. Maybe we should all become proficient at stopping massacres instead of waiting for the government to show up an hour too late to write a report about the crime and offer condolences…and then use the situation to disarm the law abiding citizen.

And for the sake of the record being straight…I do not think that Messiah’s kingdom is of this world. We should not use force to further it. But standing by and watching helplessly as our friends and family are murdered before our eyes because of a idealistic pacifistic philosophy is not Biblical. Forcing pacifism upon us all by taking away our fire power is not Biblical either.

    Shalom

  7. please sir you can get words out to so many people sir about the shootings in the schools please get this out we need to train and arm our school workers with Taser’s then they can intervene and save many of are children’s lives — and our workers will not be a victim waiting to happen please get this Idea It needs to be talked about and thought about this will work –the political Dog & Pony show about Anti-Gun laws that will not do anything to prevent a thing like this Happen again thank you

  8. well and about A well placed bullet they can go thru-and-thru and hit an unintended person with a taser no collateral damage just saying

  9. please stop the dog & pony show about gun control it will do nothing to stop these kind of things BUT arming our schools with tasers will work –that is something that needs to be thought about –then get our teachers and school official’s trained and supplied with tasers so they can respond as first responders if necessary and not helpless victims
