The Tragic Colorado Movie Theater Massacre and the State of Our Nation

[Download MP3]

In light of the terrible movie theater massacre in Colorado early this morning, Dr. Brown is putting off “You’ve Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers” and will talk about the state of the nation and our need for revival.

Hour 1:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: The world is terribly messed up. Violence, destruction, and terrible loss of life seem to be daily news. Let’s focus more on the Word, promises, and goodness of God and say, “God here I am! Touch me, change me, and send me out into a dying world!”

Hour 2:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: We’ve seen what happens when someone yields their life to evil. In a moment of time, they can destroy many human beings. What happens when we yield our lives to God? How many can we help, bless, and transform? That’s the Gospel.

  1. Those are all awesome questions shown in the show description. Can’t wait to listen today.

    God Bless

  2. Can any nation open it’s doors to Satan and not suffer any consequence, or close it’s doors to God and not suffer loss?

  3. This kind of event I am sure can happen most anytime, anywhere, when someone wants to hurt others for whatever reason. Sometimes we want to ease our pain by coming up with reasons of one sort or another, spiritual or not. Oftentimes reasons seem to run off into aashing out into blame.

But when I find myself despairing or angry because of some worldly caused pain, like the news this morning, I have come to think of John 16:33 when Jesus said “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” I often wonder how one can be of good cheer when one hears of or encounters nasty things such as massacres or stil births or in our everyday suffering. It struck me deeply one moment today that although we must not seek suffering (it’s way too easily found in life)yet when it does occur, we must bear it in our hearts as Jesus bore His suffering for us, as a witness of God and His kingdom, overcoming the world by surrendering to Him. Just let yourself hurt and mourn – and know that this world does not hold you; then you can be of good cheer even while in it. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matther 5:4.) I hope this makes sense. I started to see suffering differently today.

  4. I see the terrible grief on the faces of those who lost loved ones who innocently went for a midnight showing of the latest Hollywood movie and were slaughtered wantonly and unexpectedly by a madman.
That compassion I feel is the human part of me, and the part of God’s love working in me. And yet, I also believe that this nation is in the process of beginning to reap the terrible seeds of death, sin, and destruction that have been sowed into the soil of our national life for too many years. The truth of Psalm 9:17, written by King David 3,000 years ago, has not changed one iota: “The wicked shall be turned into hell; even all the nations that forget God.”

  5. Damascus lost @ 25 times as many people today; but this hurt is much closer to home.
“Oh no, our graphic imagery couldn’t possibly have anything to do with it!” Baal for sale at every convenience store. No, no, science and math will fix everything; now go back to sleep, and dream of voting for me…

  6. Ron David,

I replied to your post in “Dr. Brown Dialogues with a Pro-Gay Minister and then Talks about the Life-Changing Power of the Gospel”

  7. Make believe Dark Knight episode, virtual fantasy
orchestrated by a dark clad shooter, followed by a real dark night.

  8. Did you notice how the shooter looked on TV in the courtroom?

I don’t know if he was tired from not being able to sleep, was on some kind of medication, or what, but it seemed to me that he certainly lacked clarity….as if he wasn’t really there.
