Fresh Inspiration for the New Year

[Download MP3]

In this first broadcast of the new year, Dr. Brown will encourage, inspire, and challenge your heart with life-changing quotes, thoughts, and stories. A great way to start 2012!

Hour 1:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: As we start this brand new year, nothing in and of itself has changed or is different, but if we’ll take hold of God in a fresh and new way, we ourselves will be changed, and by God’s grace and power, we will bring change to all those around us!

Hour 2:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: The only thing that has changed with the coming of the new year, is that you and I are older than we were before, and that the coming of Jesus is closer than it was before. The question is, what are we going to do with the time and the years God has given to us? Let us make the most of every opportunity, that 2012 would be a year of visitation.

  2. I want to share a fresh inspiration for the New Year. However, it is connected to many of the other encouragements that were talked about in the show. The church began in Jerusalem where the promise of the Holy Spirit was first sent. From that time to the time when the Apostle Paul was preaching the gospel, it is recorded in the New Testament of how dear the state of the early church was to the apostles. Purity was very important. 2 Corinthians 7:1-3 “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man. I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.” The Apostle Paul continues in 2 Corinthians 7:12 “Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.” I think that we can get a picture of the Apostle Paul’s attitude from his letter to the church at Corinth. As God’s people, we now live for God. Anything that exalts itself above Him must be denied. This is the life that is given in Christ. And why should we do this? It is for our own good. God is the source of life and good in every circumstance. If we have God in our life, then the verse in Romans 8:31 shines some light for us. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) Victory belongs to God. In other words, with God, we will be victorious. There are so many things that affect our lives. Every thought that we think affect our behavior. The title of chapter 12 in Dr. Brown’s book “Whatever Happened to the Power of God?” says it clearly, It’s Time to Get Ruthless With Sin! Sin is not welcomed in the Kingdom of God. Sin is a deception that seeks to destroy our lives. If you love it, then you love darkness. We need God’s mercy and grace to help us to see the truth and to follow it because believing in lies will produce behaviors that will not benefit you. The truth is reality. Many of the sins that we see today have such obvious bad consequences. I thank the Lord for His grace because His grace in our lives is the way to salvation. 1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” Let’s pray for God to help each of us walk in truth and to walk in the light because that is where we will find life.
