Dr. Brown Interviews Dr. Hugh Ross and Dr. Fuz Rana on Hidden Treasures in Job, Why the Universe Is the Way It Is, Creating Life in the Lab, and the Cell’s Design

[Download MP3]
Don’t miss today’s amazing show, where Dr. Brown interviews Dr. Hugh Ross and Dr. Fuz Rana on some fascinating topics regarding creation, science, and the biblical account!

Hour 1:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: The ultimate genius, scientist, and brain is God Himself, who set things in order so that if we had a billion-trillion years, we’d only be scratching the surface of discovering the majesty of His works! Let’s bow down and worship Him with heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Hour 2:

Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: When the biblical authors considered the heavens, and looked at the stars, they were in awe of God. All the more now, with the Hubble telescope and everything else that explores and opens up the universe to us, should we be in awe of an extraordinary Creator. Just think of it, He came into our world to save us, so we could be with Him forever, in a new creation that will be far more glorious! What a God we serve!

Meet Hugh Ross:

HUGH ROSS launched his career at age seven when he went to the library to find out why stars are hot. Physics and astronomy captured his curiosity and never let go. At age seventeen he became the youngest person ever to serve as director of observations for Vancouver’s Royal Astronomical Society. With the help of a provincial scholarship and a National Research Council of Canada fellowship, he completed his undergraduate degree in physics at theUniversity of British Columbia and graduate degrees in astronomy at the University of Toronto. The NRC also sent him to the United States for postdoctoral studies. At Caltech he researched quasi-stellar objects, or “quasars,” some of the most distant and ancient objects in the universe.

Not all of Hugh’s discoveries involved astrophysics. Prompted by curiosity, he studied the world’s religions and “holy books” and found only one book that proved scientifically and historically accurate: the Bible. Hugh started at religious “ground zero” and through scientific and historical reality-testing became convinced that the Bible is truly the Word of God! When he went on to describe for others his journey to faith in Jesus Christ, he was surprised to discover how many people believed or disbelieved without checking evidence.

Hugh’s unshakable confidence that God’s revelations in Scripture and nature do not, will not, and cannot contradict became his unique message. In this realm, he has written many books, including: The Fingerprint of God, The Creator and the Cosmos, Beyond the Cosmos, The Genesis Question, A Matter of Days, Creation As Science, Why the Universe Is the Way It Is, and More Than a Theory.

Dr. Fazale Rana

FAZALE “FUZ” RANA discovered the fascinating world of cells while taking chemistry and biology courses for the premed program at West Virginia State College (now University). As a presidential scholar there, he earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry with highest honors. He completed a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry at Ohio University, where he twice won the Donald Clippinger Research Award. Postdoctoral studies took him to the Universities of Virginia and Georgia. Fuz then worked seven years as a senior scientist in product development for Procter & Gamble.

Research in biochemistry provided Fuz with the initial evidence that life must have been created. Although he recognized the work of a designer, he did not know the designer’s identity. An acquaintance’s challenge to read the Bible led him to believe that the God of the Bible is that Designer. Eventually, concern for the supposed incompatibility of science and Scripture led Fuz to Reasons To Believe (RTB).

Only Genesis with John C. Rankin [MP3 CD]: The foundations for life and living are found in the book of Genesis, including the power to give, the power to live in the light, the power of informed choice, the power to love hard questions, the power to love enemies and the power to forgive. This class will outline the ten positive assumptions of Genesis, which follow the biblical order of creation: God’s nature, communication, human nature, human freedom, hard questions, human sexuality, science and the scientific method, verifiable history, covenantal law and unalienable rights.

Big Bang Evidence for God

When I debated atheist Christopher Hitchens recently, one of the eight arguments I offered for God’s existence was the creation of this supremely fine-tuned universe out of nothing. […]

Half of Britons do not believe in Evolution

VOR Article by Marc Thomas

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/feb/01/evolution-darwin-survey-creationism Guardian – 50% of Britons do not believe in evolutionism while only a quarter say it’s definitely true. Ironically, the results of the ‘Rescuing Darwin’ survey also reveal that 25% believe evolution is only ‘probably’ true. The survey was conducted by ComRes (http://www.comres.co.uk/) whose clients include several of the biggest British banks, the BBC […]

Internet Poll Victim of Evolution/Creation Conflict

VOR Article by Marcus French

In the wake of news concerning the “missing link” fossil, an internet poll was recently released by OneNewsNow asking the question “Do you believe you evolved from an ape-like creature?”. With the site geared toward a predominantly conservative Christian audience, the results were overwhelmingly negative. PZ Myers, a biology professor frustrated with the poll, posted […]

Texas Decides to Encourage Critical Analysis of Evolution

VOR Article by Marcus French

The Texas State Board of Education approved new science standards that will encourage students in public schools to scrutinize “all sides” of scientific theories, including evolution. According to the AP : The curriculum will require that students “in all fields of science, analyze, evaluate and critique scientific explanations … including examining all sides of scientific […]

  1. I loved what your 2 guest’s had to say today about Creation, even though I just caught the last hour. Dr. Hugh Ross and Dr. Rana to me have a spiritual IQ off the charts and it is nice to hear someone that feels or sees things like me. They were a breath of fresh air. I don’t feel so alone now. I appreciate you Dr. Brown for having them on your Line of Fire program. Thank you so much, Ann Patterson

  2. Dr. Brown,

Does the Hebrew word, “yom” (day), as used in Genesis 1, refer specifically to 24 hour duration time periods?

As I read the my reputable Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicons, I see a consistent rendering of this word to mean, specifically, 24 hour days. This is so noted in BDB, Koehler and Baumgartner, and Holladay.

Dr. Raymond F.Surburg, noted that , “When the O.T. yom is associated with a definite numeral, solar days are meant.” (Gen. 7:11; 8:14; 17:2; Ex. 12:6)

Finally, I understand the hermeneutical principle of logic – that the writer means what he says – and that one should adhere to the literal meaning of a word or phrase, unless there are compelling reasons for adopting a figurative or derived interpretation.

As this is an area of your expertise, I would be very interested to know your thoughts on this word as used in Genesis 1.

    Shalom

  3. I’m waiting as I download this. I love the book of Job, though it was once so much trouble for me.

I believe there are many hidden secrets of God in the book of Job.

Life can not be created in a test tube. It’s an impossibility. It can not come of itself.

There can be hidden secrets in a lot of things that we can see from the creation. I have something written today that I would like to share about this. Here it is:

    Oh to be a Salmon
    by an unknown fisherman

To have been in oceans deep in dark of night and in the morning see wonderful created things too wonderful for me, To have been in journeys long, feeling young and strong, To swim with the best, in schools of intellegent fish, To journey long and never quit, through narrow places, shallows, and the wide and deep, looking for that outlet and the way back in.

Being older an not quite so fast, yet leaping in the morning bright to make a splash, and let the world know that I yet belong.

I belong to my maker yet, who gave me strength and length of days, I’ll leap again for him who made me to be just what I am.

I’m coming back to where I began. Once familiar waters now seem different to me, yet I remember them as being the same.

I’ve began to change. I’m not the same as I used to be.

Called back to the place my earthly care began, I will go back. I know the days are shorter now than they’ve ever been.

Another generation needs to know all this, just as I began.

And so I hope again in him who made me. And in hope I will swim through thick and thin though I won’t be back this way again to see the things I’ve seen and to fool the fishermen.

Some got caught but it doesn’t matter. They did their best. Seems there’s more of us than there is of them.

  4. It is amazing to hear the different guests that are invited to speak on the Line of Fire. I was happy to find another website that contains a lot of helpful information. The website was reasons.org which Dr. Hugh Ross introduced in the show. I’ve been reading some articles about aliens from outer space on that website, and it is such a relief to know the truth. Now, it’s just funny to think about aliens from outer space visiting our planet.

  5. Is the essence of who we are not spirit and soul? Would it so much matter how the body is “created”, whether in a lab or not? Didn’t God “know” us before the earth was even formed?

I don’t know, but WOW, deep topic that can’t escape the foreknowledge/predestination debate!

  6. Since the solar system order was not created until the fourth ‘day’, 24 hours becomes relative.
It’s the “how many angels can dance on the head of a pin” question: COULD GOD have created the universe in seven days? Faith says, “Of course!” Did He? It hasn’t been proven one way or another, and likely won’t be before Jesus returns.
Ezekiel’s wheel was not a ‘dream’ in Hebrew: the word refers to actual observance. There are many strange theories about angels: but read Scripture carefully and prayerfully, with an open mind outside-the-box as to how they visit the earth.
    In Him, Ron M.

  7. I think the whole creation/evolution thing is ridiculous. “Was man created by creation or evolution?” My answer is, “Yes.’
I believe that what makes sense is that man’s body was created by evolution, but his eternal soul was imbued into that body per the Biblical creation account.
