  1. I have a question, in Matthew 16 – Jesus looks, turns to Peter and says to Peter “Get behind Me, Satan!”… Was Satan possessing Peter at this time? We do not battle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places! Hopefully that is something to think about!

And Dr. Brown Happy Birthday! Yim huledet sameah!

  2. I’m looking forward to listening to this show. A couple of years ago I personally had a demonic affliction/oppression that led to me being committed to a psychiatric hospital. The psychiatrists had no medical explanation of my behavior/condition (I had no history of psychiatric problems) and they told my family that I would probably never “come back” to sanity. After 5 days, solely by the grace of God, my sanity was restored and a number of months later I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior.

I’ve searched Scripture for answers and I frequently consider the case of how God struck Nebuchadnezzar with insanity to humble him. My experience was certainly humbling and through the darkness of that time God brought victory to my life through Jesus Christ. What a Savior!

God bless your ministry, Dr. Brown.

  3. I haven’t heard the show yet… But yes, A Christian can have demons. I’ve personally had this problem because of ignorant New Age practices…

  4. IT sounds like what Jesus said when he was in the temple and paraphrased – come ye who are thirsty and i will give you living water.

  6. Hello Eric,

There are differing opinions on this, but I will share my perspective with you here briefly.

I make a distinction between ownership and influence. So with regards to a believer I believe the believer is owned by God and so is not or cannot be “possessed” by a demonic spirit. On the other hand, while the believer cannot be possessed they can be influenced. I believe that demonic beings operate primarily through thoughts placed in the mind of people. To the extent that you act upon these thoughts or allow these thoughts influence you can be demonically influenced.

“I have a question, in Matthew 16 – Jesus looks, turns to Peter and says to Peter “Get behind Me, Satan!”… Was Satan possessing Peter at this time?”

No, he was not possessing Peter, but he was influencing Peter. He probably put the thought in Peter’s mind and then Peter chose to voice the thought. Jesus then immediately rebuked it as coming from Satan.

“We do not battle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places!”

Absolutely, which is why prayer is such an important part of ministry. As one of my former professors put it: when dealing with demons we are involved not in a power encounter but a truth encounter. We do not have the power of an angelic spirit, we do however have the Word of truth which we can stand upon and exercise.
